Whether you're trying to troll or not, I'm going to drop a very firm notice on this thread that CC DOES NOT PROMOTE ANY DRUG USAGE WHATSOEVER! We get a thread like this every 4-6 months and it usually ends up in 3 things before being locked:

- Marijuana usage is wrong because it makes you lose control

- Marijuana usage is, in the VAST majority, harmful and should not be "played around with". It's quite serious.

- Despite any medicinal value, the amount of illegal and harmful use is an OBVIOUS reason to prevent it from becoming publicly available / legalizing it.

This thread will be heavily moderated, not because of you sumam, but because it often gets out of hand with everybody spouting off their opinions. Again, CC does not promote this, and if this becomes a fight to defend marijuana, it won't last long. Nothing personal.

Well, the church will tell you that it is bad every time. And they are correct, it's currently illegal and therefore sinful. However smoking marijuana is the same as any other activity, that is to say NOT a sin in and of itself.

(1 Corinthians 10:23) "Everything is permissible"—but not everything is beneficial. "Everything is permissible"—but not everything is constructive.

However that is not to say that smoking is never a sin, it is sinful if you are breaking the law by smoking, causing a brother to stumble (that phrase gets it's own wall o' text), or if the Spirit inside of you (your conscience) convicts you and you feel that you are doing evil.

But even if it isn't sinful, it certainly isn't smart. As AD said it is harmful, it alters your one greatest asset, your mind and puts you under the control of foreign substances. So basically, marijuana while not necessarily a sin, is not a very smart thing to do and (i think) ought to be avoided.

Once again, thanks to the illustrious Genesis^^

***This post was a response to a post someone has since removed, for breaking the exact rules AD mentioned above. Oh well, hope he still reads my response. He might need some marijuana after reading it.***

Ah, the bliss of misinformation (received while 'chillin' on illegal drugs.)

IAmLegend...

Out of curiosity, how do you know who here has or has not used marijuana? You assume because this is a Christian community that no one here has used it. Not all people here have ALWAYS been Christians.

So, Strike One: Making a wild assumption.

Marijuana is a general 'immunosupressant'...This means that it lowers the bodies ability to fight off infections, particularly in the bronchial passages.

There are indeed toxins and carcinogens contained in marijuana smoke, and in fact, some of these toxins are 4 times more powerful in the same amounts as the tobacco in a cigarette. Check again on those lung cancer figures, of all cigarette smokers who also smoke marijuana, the number of those smokers who DIE from lung cancer who also smoked marijuana are disproportionally higher than just regular cigarette smokers.

On to other effects...Ever heard of CIPD? Cannabis Induced Psychotic Disorder? Somehow I didn't think so. Look it up.

So, Strike Two: Thinking it has no ill effects.

Care to go for the inning?
